Matthew 8: 1-4 | King James Audio Bible | KJV | King James Version

‘Blessed are the merciful: for they shall obtain mercy.’ (Matthew 8: 1-4, KJV)

Blessed are those who choose to respond to others with mercy rather than judgment. The merciful recognize their own imperfections and extend grace to others who may have wronged them. They choose forgiveness over resentment, love over anger, and compassion over harshness. In their acts of mercy, they experience the freedom of releasing grievances and find themselves recipients of God’s abundant mercy.

Beatitudes Living In The Light Of Jesus Christ | Meditations On The Love Of Jesus Christ

This Beatitude teaches us the power of mercy and how it can transform our lives. When we show kindness, forgiveness, and understanding to others, we open ourselves up to receiving the same blessings in return.

Being merciful means having a big heart full of love and compassion. It means choosing to treat others with kindness, even when they make mistakes or hurt us. Mercy breaks the cycle of anger and judgment and brings healing and reconciliation.

Jesus, our greatest example of love and mercy, showed us how to live a life of compassion and forgiveness. He reached out to those who were hurting, healed the broken, and forgave the wrongdoers. His actions remind us of the incredible power of mercy to change lives.

When we show mercy, we create an atmosphere of love and acceptance. We let go of resentment and anger, and instead, extend forgiveness and understanding. In doing so, we open the door for others to show us the same mercy.

The promise in this Beatitude is that when we show mercy, we will receive mercy in return. It’s like a circle of love and kindness. When we treat others with compassion, we invite others to treat us the same way. The blessings of mercy come back to us in the form of forgiveness, love, and understanding.

Mercy brings freedom and healing. It helps us let go of grudges and find peace within ourselves. It allows us to build stronger and more meaningful connections with others. It is a powerful force that can transform our relationships and our world.

“Be merciful, even as your Father is merciful.” (Luke 6:36, KJV)

  • Audio Bible | John's Gospel | Jesus Christ Before Pilate | Christ The King

It is the time of the Passion. Jesus has been arrested and the Jewish leaders have asked Pilate to judge Jesus and order him put to death. Pilate now speaks with Jesus. Jesus’ life is in Pilate’s hands. The lives of all the people in the world are in Jesus’ hands – the crucifixion must happen; the figure of Christ on the cross, which has towered over the Gospels, must be realised, the sign of our redemption and the sign of truth [ .. ]

  • Lent Readings | Boy At Prayer | Child With Jesus | Pope Saint Leo The Great

Pope Saint Leo the Great’s reflection on the Passion of Christ invites us to fix our gaze on the crucified Jesus, not only as an act of devotion but as an essential means of recognizing our own humanity in Jesus. Pope Saint Leo emphasizes that the suffering and death of Christ are not distant historical events but realities that intimately concern every believer. True reverence for the Passion, he insists, requires an interior transformation, where we experience in our hearts the effects of Christ’s death and resurrection [ … ]

  • Audio Bible | Jesus Heals A Crippled Woman On The Sabbath

It was customary to go to the synagogue on the Sabbath, to read and study Scripture and praise God, and our Lord Jesus is observant, assuming a teaching role in the synagogue. It is in this context that the crippled woman becomes a type of Christ’s teaching. She has been an abject figure, bowed down for eighteen years. She does not come to the synagogue asking to be healed; she seems quite passive [ … ]
