Being a peacemaker means seeking to resolve conflicts, bridge divides, and promote understanding among people. It involves choosing love, forgiveness, and empathy over anger, resentment, and hatred. Peacemakers are like bridges, connecting people and fostering healing and unity.
Jesus, as the Prince of Peace, showed us the way to be peacemakers. Jesus taught us to love our enemies, to forgive those who hurt us, and to seek reconciliation. Jesus’ life exemplified the power of forgiveness and the possibility of healing broken relationships.
When we choose to be peacemakers, we reflect the character of God. We demonstrate His love, mercy, and compassion to others. Our actions become a testimony of our relationship with God and our commitment to live in harmony with His principles.

Loving God, help me to lay aside my own desires and pride in order to promote peace and reconciliation. Give me the wisdom to navigate conflicts with grace and humility. Use me as an agent of your peace in the world. Amen.
Jesus tells us to be vigilant. In Christ’s time, when the Jews would usually wear long, flowing garments, it was the practice to hitch them up, to gird oneself, in order to be ready to perform certain kinds of work. To gird oneself, therefore, and to keep lights burning, meant to be ready for action.
