‘Blessed are the peacemakers: for they shall be called the children of God.’ (Matthew 5:9, KJV)

Peacemakers are those who actively work towards resolving conflicts and fostering harmony in their relationships and communities. They seek to promote understanding, reconciliation, and unity among people. By embodying the values of peace, they reflect the character of God and demonstrate their identity as children of God.

Beatitudes Living In The Light Of Jesus Christ | Meditations On The Love Of Jesus Christ

Peacemakers are blessed because they bring about harmony, understanding, and unity. By actively working towards peace, they reflect the heart of God and are recognized as His children.

Being a peacemaker means seeking to resolve conflicts, bridge divides, and promote understanding among people. It involves choosing love, forgiveness, and empathy over anger, resentment, and hatred. Peacemakers are like bridges, connecting people and fostering healing and unity.

Jesus, as the Prince of Peace, showed us the way to be peacemakers. Jesus taught us to love our enemies, to forgive those who hurt us, and to seek reconciliation. Jesus’ life exemplified the power of forgiveness and the possibility of healing broken relationships.

When we choose to be peacemakers, we reflect the character of God. We demonstrate His love, mercy, and compassion to others. Our actions become a testimony of our relationship with God and our commitment to live in harmony with His principles.

‘If it is possible, as far as it depends on you, live at peace with everyone.’ (Romans 12:18, NIV)

Loving God, help me to lay aside my own desires and pride in order to promote peace and reconciliation. Give me the wisdom to navigate conflicts with grace and humility. Use me as an agent of your peace in the world. Amen.

  • Audio Bible | Advent | Centurian's Servant | Oliver Peers

Today’s Bible verses present an extraordinary scene. The centurion is not merely a Gentile; he is an officer of the occupying Roman army – the enemy! – and he comes to a Jew for help. Further to this, the centurion has come to Jesus to ask him to help his servant. This might seem to us an awful lot of care expressed by a Roman officer for a servant, whom we might presume to be a slave. Further to this, the centurion has the tact to know that Jesus should not enter into a Gentile’s house, because this would be seen by the Jews as making him impure [ … ]

  • Audio Daily Bible Verses | Behold The Lamb Of God | Come And See

‘Behold the Lamb of God.’ Throughout the Bible, we are called to know and to develop our relationship with the Lamb. It is in Genesis the Lamb is first mentioned, provided by God as a sacrifice to take the place of Isaac. Through the history of Jewish ritual, a lamb is offered in sacrifice, for expiation, reparation, sanctification. The prophets speak of a meek, tame lamb, sheared without opening its mouth. In the Book of Revelation, or Apocalypse, the full meaning of the Lamb will be revealed, as the king, the Spouse, the lamp, the temple, the place of our eternal dwelling. The Lamb spans all history. And John the Baptist has already, in John’s Gospel, recognised and declared Christ as the Lamb of God who will take away the sins of the world [ … ]

  • Audio Bible | Jesus' Miracle Of The Loaves And Fishes

Jesus has invited the disciples to come away with him to find a lonely place, where they might rest. The pressures of the apostolic ministry have been so great, there has not been time even to eat. Jesus and the apostles have gone away from the crowds in a boat, but the people have seen them leave and have run ahead to find them, arriving at the place before Jesus does. Jesus, then, changes his plans. The rest period is not to be. Jesus feels compassion for the spiritual needs of the people. They need the teaching Jesus is able to give to them. They are as sheep without a shepherd. This need is paramount [ … ]
