Daniel 3: 24-28| King James Audio Bible | Powerful Prayer

‘Then Nebuchadnezzar the king was astonished, and rose up in haste, and spake, and said unto his counsellors, Did not we cast three men bound into the midst of the fire? They answered and said unto the king, True, O king. He answered and said, Lo, I see four men loose, walking in the midst of the fire, and they have no hurt; and the form of the fourth is like the Son of God. Then Nebuchadnezzar came near to the mouth of the burning fiery furnace, and spake, and said, Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, ye servants of the most high God, come forth, and come hither. Then Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, came forth of the midst of the fire. And the princes, governors, and captains, and the king’s counsellors, being gathered together, saw these men, upon whose bodies the fire had no power, nor was an hair of their head singed, neither were their coats changed, nor the smell of fire had passed on them. Then Nebuchadnezzar spake, and said, Blessed be the God of Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, who hath sent his angel, and delivered his servants that trusted in him, and have changed the king’s word, and yielded their bodies, that they might not serve nor worship any god, except their own God.’ (Daniel 3:24-28, KJV)

Explanation Of Context | Love Revealed By Jesus

In this account, King Nebuchadnezzar ordered Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego, three faithful Hebrews, to be thrown into a fiery furnace as punishment for refusing to bow down to the golden idol he had erected. Miraculously, when the three were thrown into the furnace, the king witnessed a fourth person walking with them, whom he described as being like the Son of God. The men remained unharmed by the flames, and Nebuchadnezzar acknowledged the power of the God of Israel, recognizing that an angel had delivered the three Hebrews from the fiery ordeal.

Reflection – God’s Faithfulness In Times Of Persecution | Meditations On The Love Of Jesus Christ

The story of the angel and the three Hebrews in the fiery furnace speaks of God’s faithfulness and protection for those who remain steadfast in their devotion to Him, even in the face of persecution and adversity. Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego chose to remain faithful to the one true God and refused to bow down to an idol, despite the grave consequences.

The presence of the fourth person in the furnace, whom Nebuchadnezzar described as being like the Son of God, signifies God’s intimate involvement and protection in the midst of trials. This account assures us that God does not abandon His faithful servants when they face challenges; instead, He walks with us through the fire, shielding us from harm.

In our lives, we may encounter trials, opposition, or even persecution for standing firm in our faith. Yet, this story encourages us to trust that God is with us, providing strength, courage, and protection as we face the flames. Just as He delivered the three Hebrews from the fiery furnace, God is our ever-present help in times of trouble.

Powerful Prayer To Jesus | Love Revealed By Jesus

Dear Jesus,

In times of persecution and adversity, we seek your presence and protection, just as you were with the three Hebrews in the fiery furnace. We are grateful for the assurance that you walk with us through our trials, shielding us from harm and strengthening us to stand firm in our faith.

Like Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego, we desire to remain faithful to you, even when faced with challenges and opposition. Grant us unwavering faith, courage, and determination to hold fast to your truth, regardless of consequences.

We acknowledge that you are the Son of God, our Saviour and Redeemer, and that your presence in our lives makes all the difference. May your Spirit empower us to endure and overcome the fires of life, knowing that you are with us every step of the way.

Thank you for your faithfulness, even when we face persecution for your name’s sake. May we find strength in your promises and assurance in your protection, knowing that you are the God who delivers and saves.

We lift our hearts in praise and worship to you, our loving and mighty Saviour.

In your precious name, we pray.

Amen.

  • Audio Bible | Jesus Casts Out A Devil From A Boy

Jesus returns with Peter and James and John from the mountain of the transfiguration. He finds a scene which is crowded and confused. The scribes are present, arguing with Jesus’ disciples. They are surrounded by many people, who now catch sight of Jesus and rush to greet him. Jesus asks what has happened to create such a hubbub, and we learn that at its focal point there is sickness, in the form of possession, and inability on the part of the disciples to cast the evil out of the child [ … ]

  • George Herbert | Holy Scripture | The Temple | Christian Poem | Young King David | Audio

This poem reflects George Herbert’s meditative approach to the relationship between Scripture and human understanding. He portrays the Bible as a source of ‘lights’ and ‘constellations’ whose complexity and hidden meanings illuminate human experience. Herbert expresses a desire to understand the Bible not just as individual verses but as a unified whole, where each part contributes to a larger, interconnected narrative. The ‘lights’ and ‘configurations of their glory’ in the poem evoke a metaphorical night sky, where each verse shines like a star. Herbert suggests that, like stars forming constellations, individual passages in scripture connect in ways that provide a grander, cohesive vision [ … ]

  • Audio Bible | Parable Of The Ten Virgins Wise And Foolish | Oliver Peers

It may seem strange to the modern Christian that Christ should have so earnestly told his disciples to remain on high alert for his coming. Jesus does not speak of a repeat Nativity, of his coming once again being in the form of a vulnerable infant, humbled by the obscurity of the place of his birth. Nor does it seem that those of the elect who live to witness his coming might be easily deceived by the false claims of others to be the Messiah. Rather Jesus’ return is to be unmistakeable. He will come in ‘clouds of glory’. This will be an apocalypse. No one knows when this will be, but we feel it is imminent [ … ]
