Matthew 8: 1-4 | King James Audio Bible | KJV | King James Version

‘Blessed are the merciful: for they shall obtain mercy.’ (Matthew 8: 1-4, KJV)

Blessed are those who choose to respond to others with mercy rather than judgment. The merciful recognize their own imperfections and extend grace to others who may have wronged them. They choose forgiveness over resentment, love over anger, and compassion over harshness. In their acts of mercy, they experience the freedom of releasing grievances and find themselves recipients of God’s abundant mercy.

Beatitudes Living In The Light Of Jesus Christ | Meditations On The Love Of Jesus Christ

This Beatitude teaches us the power of mercy and how it can transform our lives. When we show kindness, forgiveness, and understanding to others, we open ourselves up to receiving the same blessings in return.

Being merciful means having a big heart full of love and compassion. It means choosing to treat others with kindness, even when they make mistakes or hurt us. Mercy breaks the cycle of anger and judgment and brings healing and reconciliation.

Jesus, our greatest example of love and mercy, showed us how to live a life of compassion and forgiveness. He reached out to those who were hurting, healed the broken, and forgave the wrongdoers. His actions remind us of the incredible power of mercy to change lives.

When we show mercy, we create an atmosphere of love and acceptance. We let go of resentment and anger, and instead, extend forgiveness and understanding. In doing so, we open the door for others to show us the same mercy.

The promise in this Beatitude is that when we show mercy, we will receive mercy in return. It’s like a circle of love and kindness. When we treat others with compassion, we invite others to treat us the same way. The blessings of mercy come back to us in the form of forgiveness, love, and understanding.

Mercy brings freedom and healing. It helps us let go of grudges and find peace within ourselves. It allows us to build stronger and more meaningful connections with others. It is a powerful force that can transform our relationships and our world.

“Be merciful, even as your Father is merciful.” (Luke 6:36, KJV)

On Holy Thursday, the Church gathers to remember the Last Supper—the evening when Jesus, in a quiet upper room, gave his friends the gift of the Eucharist, and with it, a new covenant sealed in his blood. The reading from Saint Melito of Sardis, a bishop from the second century, helps us understand the deeper meaning of what took place that night and how it connects to the cross and the resurrection that followed [ … ]

In the face of Judas’ betrayal, Jesus openly and honestly acknowledges himself to those who are come to arrest him. ‘I am he.’ Jesus does this three times, even while those who have come to arrest him shrink back from such simplicity of giving. The courage of Jesus at this point is absolutely remarkable. Jesus has reconciled himself through prayer to his Father. His self-composure at this point as he goes to save us is a shining example to us all [ … visit YouTube – like and share and ring that bell 🙂 … ]

Jesus continues to teach his disciples, presenting to them the true meaning of his Passion and crucifixion to come, and also consoling the disciples: Jesus tells his disciples that his imminent death on the cross is necessary; it is through the crucifixion that he returns to the Father, and will then send to the disciples the Holy Spirit, the Paraclete, the Counsellor, the Comforter, to be with them forever [ … ]
